Around the turn of the millennium I photographed more than 80 students from universities and higher vocational education institutions throughout the Netherlands.
Now in the 21st century they form to a large extent the cadre that leads companies and the government. Or they are active in the creative business. They were photographed in their own student rooms, which I did not allow them to tidy up for the photo. In their neatest clothes as a symbol of their later functions in society. Parts of the series were exhibited in various cities in the Netherlands. A small series of additional portraits, now in colour, were made for the youth study magazine TKMST in 2002-2003.
